CoverIch liebe dieses Cover und MUSSTE es mir unbedingt als Hardcover kaufen. Für mich eine ganz große Cover-Liebe. Es passt perfekt zum Thema ich finde es auch sehr originell! Tatsächlich schlägt mein Herz vor Begeisterung schneller und ich muss total dämlich grinsen, weil ich dieses Cover und dieses Buch so toll finde.Meine MeinungDieses Buch! Lest es!Bereits seit dem Erscheinungstermin steht es auf meiner Wunschliste, als Hardcover, wegen dem Cover. Die Idee mit der Comic-Zeichnerin, die noch auf die Highschool geht und durch ihre Comics sehr bekannt wird, fand ich super! Gerade in Zeiten, in denen das Internet eine immer größere Rolle spielt und man wahnsinnig schnell Viral gehen kann.Der Autorin ist es nicht nur gelungen die Gefühle und die Figuren perfekt auf den Punkt zu bringen, sondern auch eine Atmosphäre zu erschaffen, in der es glaubwürdig rüber kommt.Eliza und ihre Monster sind berühmt. Doch niemand weiß, dass Eliza die Schöpferin der Comic-Welt ist. Ihr ist es wichtig, ihre Identität geheim zu halten, denn sie möchte ganz Normal weiter auf die Schule gehen, ein normales Leben eben führen.Bis Wallace an ihre Schule kommt. Er ist ein Fan und er schreibt sehr erfolgreich Fanfictions zu ihren Comics. Erschwerend kommt für Eliza noch hinzu, dass sie Wallace mag, aber irgendwie schafft sie es nicht, ihm die Wahrheit zu erzählen. Niemand aus ihrem Offline-Leben weis Bescheid und so soll es für Eliza auch bleiben. Ihre Eltern denken es wäre ein Hobby für sie, wissen aber nicht, dass Eliza sich damit gut das College finanzieren kann und vermutlich auch danach noch etwas von dem Geld übrig ist (man bedenke hier die teure Bildung in den USA). Niemand in ihrem Offline-Leben schient es wirklich ernst zu nehmen.Ich sage an dieser Stelle auch bewusst Offline-Leben, weil ich hier die Unterschiedung zwischen realem Leben und virtuellem Leben etwas blöd finde. Online hat Eliza tolle Freunde, die sie unterstützen und ihr beim Verkauf von Merch, dem Betreuen der Website und des Online-Stores und auch als Administratoren zur Seite stehen. Diese beiden wissen auch, wer Eliza wirklich ist.Nachdem ihr Geheimnis aber an die Öffentlichkeit kommt, fällt für Eliza alles aus einander. Sie verliert nicht nur ihre Freunde in der echten Welt, sondern auch die Fähigkeit weiter zu zeichen. Wallace kann nicht verstehen, warum sie ihm nicht die Wahrheit gesagt hat. Für Eliza bricht alles auseinander. Man kann förmlich zu sehen, wie mehr als Verzweiflung über sie hereinbricht.Die Autorin hat diesen Punkt auch äußerst geschickt gelöst. Eliza weiß schon länger von einer Autorin, die sich nach dem beenden einer äußerst erfolgreichen Reihe völlig aus dem öffentlichen Leben zurück gezogen hat und seit dem nicht mehr schreibt, weil sie mit dem Ruhm und allem was dieser so mit sich bringt, nicht fertig geworden ist. Auch Eliza steht kurz davon, daran kaputt zu gehen. Sie hat sich bewusst dafür entschieden nicht öffentlich aufzutreten, weil sie so eine gesunde Distanz zwischen sich und ihren Erfolg bringen konnte.Ich finde das ist eine sehr erwachsene Entscheidung und zeigt einmal mehr, wie reif Eliza eigentlich ist und wie viele Gedanken sie sich gemacht hat.Mich hat dieses Buch auf so vielen Ebenen berührt und ich wünsche mir ehrlich, ich würde es nocheinmal zum ersten Mal lesen. Es it definitiv ein Buch, das man auch immer wieder lesen kann, denn die Geschichte verliert nichts. Selbst während ich hier sitzte und schreibe (und mich tausend mal vertippe), will ich das Buch am liebsten sofort wieder in die Hand nehmen und noch einmal lesen.Eliza and Her Monsters ist definitiv eines meiner Jahreshighlights! Ich kann mich nur wiederholen: Lest es! Die Aktualität des Buches macht es für mich noch viel besser. Eliza ist eine tolle Figur und macht eine unglaubliche Entwicklung durch. Ich habe sie geliebt und hätte sie stellenweise am liebsten geschüttelt. Am wichtigsten ist aber: Ich habe sie verstanden. Der Autorin gelingt es spielend, mich in Elizas Gefühlswelt hineinzuziehen, so tief, dass ich selbst kaum noch heraus komm. Sie kann sowohl Kummer und Verzweiflung, als auch die Freude und das Verliebt sein so wunderschön beschreiben.Das Buch hat sich unglaublich leicht lesen lassen und ich habe die nicht ganz 400 Seiten in einem Rutsch verschlungen. Es war mir einfach unmöglich, das Buch aus der Hand zu legen.Ich würde am liebsten hier noch hundert Mal schreiben, dass ihr dieses Buch lesen sollt, es ist wirklich etwas besonderes und ich kann es euch einfach nur ans Herz legen.Wie zu erwarten gibt es von mir volle fünf Monster!
"Eliza and Her Monsters" is a well-written novel with great characters and an interesting plot.I really liked Eliza as a character and how the novel explored the impact her creation has on her self-perception. I think the novel did a great job exploring how the anonymity the internet provides can make it easier to express yourself and explore your hobbies without feeling the pressure "real-life" can put on you.The family dynamics were interesting and I liked to read about how the frustrations of the various family members and their misunderstandings build up over time. No one was necessarily in the wrong, but no one was right either.I liked Wallace's character for the most part - especially the first part of the novel - but I felt that his reactions towards Eliza at the end were somewhat harsh and over-the-top.What I really liked was Eliza's reactions to the reveal towards the end of the novel and how she had to put effort into building a new normal and no easy solution for her to go back. I think that this made this novel more impactful than an easy solution would have.Overall, this is an amazing novel about social anxiety with realistic-feeling characters.
"Eliza and her Monsters" ist ein fantastisches Buch mit tollen Charakteren und einer coolen Story! Das Englisch ist gut verständlich und das Buch händelt gut Themen wie "social anxiety" und " social awkward sein" und wie Jugendliche mit dem Internet gehen, wie es ist eine Internetberühmtheit zu sein, wie es ist kreativ zu sein (die Hauptfigur ist Künstlerin) und so viel mehr! Einfach genial, kann ich nur jedem empfehlen! Das wäre so ein Buch, was ich meinen Eltern zum lesen geben würde, weil ich das Gefühl habe, dass sie mich + meine Freunde danach vielleicht etwas besser verstehen könnten ^^ In einigen Situationen habe ich mich selbst wieder gefunden und in anderen nicht, aber dieses Buch gibt einen tollen Einblick in den Kopf von Eliza aka einem Teenager mit "social anxiety"! Lest es einfach!!!
